- What to provide

Example input for PNM to ICO Converter
Illustrative input, not a record of a completed test. Check the selected mode before running it.
Input: photo.pnm → output: photo.ico (illustrative filename). How to convert PNM to ICO
ICO is selected on this page. Files are processed locally; the page downloads its conversion engine on first use.
- Choose a PNM file (.pnm) or drag it into the workspace. Add up to 30 images, no larger than 20 MB each.
- Leave Convert to set to ICO. The quality slider is disabled for this output.
- Select Convert images. Open a preview and check the output dimensions. Large artwork is scaled to fit within 256 × 256.
- Download the .ico file or use Download all (.zip) for a batch. Open the result in the application you intend to use.
Why won't my PNM file convert?
Check that the file is an actual PNM image rather than a renamed file. Try one smaller image first; the input limit is 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Allow the processing engine to load before retrying.
Before converting your PNM file
PNM can represent different Netpbm image types. Output is limited by the color and detail present in the decoded source.
What changes in the ICO output?
Images larger than 256 × 256 are scaled to fit. This tool exports one icon image per file, not a complete multi-size favicon package.
Supported features and limits
One icon per file. Images larger than 256 × 256 are scaled to fit.
Before you use the result
- Inspect edges and any transparent areas in the exported image.
- Compare output dimensions and file size. Changing format does not guarantee a smaller file.
- Animated or multi-page sources produce one still image here. Renaming the extension does not perform a conversion.
If PNM to ICO Converter does not work as expected
If your PNM file fails, confirm it opens in its original application and is not just a renamed file. Try one smaller image to distinguish a format problem from browser memory limits.
Where your input is processed
The tool processes input in your browser. Loading the page and its processing libraries still needs network access. Site analytics and sharing services are separate from file processing; see the privacy explanation below. Privacy details.

A few things to know.
Which image formats can I convert?
Choose from 23 input formats and 21 output formats. HEIC and HEIF are input-only. Animated and multi-page files become a single still image. SVG input must be self-contained; convert text to paths to preserve lettering. SVG output embeds a PNG bitmap; it does not create editable vector paths. PSD output is flattened.
Will my images lose quality?
PNG uses lossless encoding. JPEG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL and JPEG 2000 offer quality controls. GIF reduces colors, PGM is grayscale and PBM is black and white. ICO images are scaled to fit 256 × 256. File sizes may grow or shrink. Metadata, including camera and location information, is not copied.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser handles every conversion locally. Files are not sent to a server or saved after you leave this page. For browser stability, each image is limited to 20 MB and 40 million pixels.
