How to crop an image or screenshot
Keep a specific part of a PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF or BMP image using the crop selection.
- Choose an image, drag it into the workspace, or paste a screenshot with Ctrl / Command + V.
- Click and hold a pink corner, then drag it to resize the selection. Drag inside the selection to move it.
- Choose Freeform or a fixed aspect ratio. For an exact crop, enter X, Y, Width and Height in original image pixels.
- Choose PNG, JPEG or WebP under Save as, then select Crop & download. Check the downloaded image before sharing it.
PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with white. Cropping keeps the selected pixel dimensions rather than the preview's displayed size.
How to crop a PNG
Add your PNG image, drag the crop selection or enter exact dimensions, then download as PNG to keep a lossless image. Cropping removes pixels outside the selected rectangle. It does not remove the background or increase image detail.

A few things to know.
Does cropping lower image resolution?
The crop keeps the selected pixels at their original resolution, even when the on-screen preview looks smaller. PNG export is lossless; JPEG and WebP use the selected quality. Browser color management may normalize color profiles.
What happens to transparency and metadata?
PNG and WebP preserve transparency. JPEG fills transparent areas with white. Exported crops do not copy the original file's EXIF metadata. Animated inputs become a single still frame.
Are there size limits?
Files can be up to 20 MB, 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels on either side. All cropping happens in your browser without uploading the image.
