Example input for PNG to JPEG 2000 Converter
Illustrative input, not a record of a completed test. Check the selected mode before running it.
Input: photo.png → output: photo.jp2 (illustrative filename). How to convert PNG to JPEG 2000
JPEG 2000 is selected on this page. Files are processed locally; the page downloads its conversion engine on first use.
- Choose a PNG file (.png) or drag it into the workspace. Add up to 30 images, no larger than 20 MB each.
- Leave Convert to set to JPEG 2000. Adjust Image quality and compare fine detail in the result.
- Select Convert images. Open a preview and check the output dimensions.
- Download the .jp2 file or use Download all (.zip) for a batch. Open the result in the application you intend to use.
Why won't my PNG file convert?
Check that the file is an actual PNG image rather than a renamed file. Try one smaller image first; the input limit is 40 million pixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Allow the processing engine to load before retrying.
Before converting your PNG file
PNG may contain transparent edges or flat-color artwork. Check those areas after conversion, especially when the destination is opaque or lossy.
What changes in the JPEG 2000 output?
The quality slider is not a dedicated lossless mode. Do not assume pixel-identical output from a quality value; verify the result in the receiving application.
Supported features and limits
Still image output. Original dimensions are preserved.
Before you use the result
- Inspect edges and any transparent areas in the exported image.
- Compare fine detail at full size after adjusting quality. A smaller output may lose detail.
- Animated or multi-page sources produce one still image here. Renaming the extension does not perform a conversion.
If PNG to JPEG 2000 Converter does not work as expected
If your PNG file fails, confirm it opens in its original application and is not just a renamed file. Try one smaller image to distinguish a format problem from browser memory limits.
Where your input is processed

A few things to know.
Which image formats can I convert?
Choose from 23 input formats and 21 output formats. HEIC and HEIF are input-only. Animated and multi-page files become a single still image. SVG input must be self-contained; convert text to paths to preserve lettering. SVG output embeds a PNG bitmap; it does not create editable vector paths. PSD output is flattened.
Will my images lose quality?
PNG uses lossless encoding. JPEG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL and JPEG 2000 offer quality controls. GIF reduces colors, PGM is grayscale and PBM is black and white. ICO images are scaled to fit 256 × 256. File sizes may grow or shrink. Metadata, including camera and location information, is not copied.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser handles every conversion locally. Files are not sent to a server or saved after you leave this page. For browser stability, each image is limited to 20 MB and 40 million pixels.
