Is AVIF to PSD Converter right for your task?
Need a PSD file from an AVIF image? Convert it locally and download a flattened PSD. This creates a raster starting point for editing; it does not recover separate objects, text or original layers.
- What to provide
- AVIF files (.avif). Keep the source if you will need to edit it again.
- What you get
- PSD still images (.psd), individually or in a ZIP. Exports one flattened image. Original layers, text and effects are not retained.
Example input for AVIF to PSD Converter
Illustrative input, not a record of a completed test. Check the selected mode before running it.
Input: photo.avif → output: photo.psd (illustrative filename). How to convert AVIF to PSD
PSD is selected automatically. Expect flattened output, not a layered reconstruction.
- Select Choose images and add one or more AVIF files, up to 20 MB per file and 30 images per batch.
- Leave Convert to set to PSD. The quality slider is disabled for this output.
- Select Convert images and review the preview. Animated sources produce one still image and metadata is not retained.
- Download the PSD or batch ZIP. Open the PSD in your editor and check dimensions, appearance and transparency before adding new layers.
Will the PSD contain the original layers?
No. An AVIF image does not provide the original document's editing layers. This conversion exports a flattened image; request the original design file if you need editable text or separate objects.
What you get from AVIF to PSD
The result is a flattened PSD containing the decoded image. For example, use it as a starting image in a Photoshop composition, then add your own layers in your editor. Conversion does not reconstruct editable text, smart objects or layers from the original design.
Do you actually need PSD?
Choose PSD when your workflow specifically requires that file type. If you only need to open or place an image in an editor, PNG may be sufficient and easier to share. Keep the original AVIF and check the exported file in the intended editor before relying on it.
Supported features and limits
Exports one flattened image. Original layers, text and effects are not retained.
Before you use the result
- Inspect edges and any transparent areas in the exported image.
- Compare output dimensions and file size. Changing format does not guarantee a smaller file.
- Animated or multi-page sources produce one still image here. Renaming the extension does not perform a conversion.
If AVIF to PSD Converter does not work as expected
If your AVIF file fails, confirm it opens in its original application and is not just a renamed file. Try one smaller image to distinguish a format problem from browser memory limits.

A few things to know.
Which image formats can I convert?
Choose from 23 input formats and 21 output formats. HEIC and HEIF are input-only. Animated and multi-page files become a single still image. SVG input must be self-contained; convert text to paths to preserve lettering. SVG output embeds a PNG bitmap; it does not create editable vector paths. PSD output is flattened.
Will my images lose quality?
PNG uses lossless encoding. JPEG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL and JPEG 2000 offer quality controls. GIF reduces colors, PGM is grayscale and PBM is black and white. ICO images are scaled to fit 256 × 256. File sizes may grow or shrink. Metadata, including camera and location information, is not copied.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your browser handles every conversion locally. Files are not sent to a server or saved after you leave this page. For browser stability, each image is limited to 20 MB and 40 million pixels.
