Find your balance
JPEG, WebP and AVIF use lossy compression. Higher quality keeps more detail.
Fits the longest side. Keeps proportions and never enlarges an image.
Off by default. PNG keeps full colors; enabling this uses the quality slider to reduce its palette and may change gradients.
Original format stays the same. Already smaller? We keep the original unless you resize it.

Is Image & WebP Compressor right for your task?
Reduce an image’s file size to fit an upload limit.
- What to provide
- JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF images.
- What you get
- Re-encoded images with a before-and-after size comparison.
How to compress JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF images
Reduce image file size while keeping the current file format and comparing the result against the original.
- Choose or drop the images you want to compress into the workspace.
- Adjust quality for lossy formats and, if needed, set a smaller maximum dimension.
- For PNG, keep color reduction off for lossless compression, or enable it when a smaller palette is acceptable.
- Start compression, compare the before-and-after sizes, then download the results individually or as a ZIP.
An already optimized file may not become smaller. Review the preview before using reduced quality, dimensions or colors.
Compress WebP and reduce picture file size
Add a WebP, JPEG, PNG or AVIF image. Adjust the quality or resize dimensions, compress and compare the output size with the original. Download the result when the size and appearance suit your needs. Some inputs may become larger; the comparison shows this before you download.
Before you use the result
- Compare actual bytes and inspect fine detail. Some files become larger; no target size is guaranteed.
- Keep the original file so you can change settings and try again.
If Image & WebP Compressor does not work as expected
If processing stops, try one small supported file first. Let the processing engine load and keep the page open until the download completes.
Where your input is processed
The tool processes input in your browser. Loading the page and its processing libraries still needs network access. Site analytics and sharing services are separate from file processing; see the privacy explanation below. Privacy details.

A few things to know.
Will every image become smaller?
No. Already optimized images may not shrink. When dimensions stay the same, we return the original if recompression would make it larger. Resized results always use your chosen dimensions, with any size increase clearly shown.
What happens to quality, transparency and metadata?
JPEG, WebP and AVIF may lose some detail. PNG does not reduce colors unless you enable that option. Transparency is preserved in supported formats. Re-encoded images keep color profiles and remove personal metadata after correcting orientation; originals kept without changes retain their metadata.
Can I compress animated images?
This tool supports still images only. Animated PNG, WebP and AVIF files are rejected rather than flattened. Each image must be at most 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels on either side.
